The 100 watt GLS incandescent bulb consumes about 12% of the energy, 83% of the infrared and 5% of the visible light. In contrast, a typical LED grow light may produce 15% visible light and 85% heat. Especially for high-power LED grow lights, it is very necessary to eliminate this heat through effective thermal management.
In short, whether HPS lamp, LED light or CFL light, the heat generated per watt is roughly the same. However, in order to achieve the same cannabis growing effect, the power of HPS grow lights needs to be increased several times to produce more heat.
Emitting too much heat is an inevitable problem. In fact, any lamp will generate heat when it is powered on, but the heat generated by HPS lamp is particularly prominent, which is several times that of CFL and LED lamp.
