How close should light be to cannabis?
Whether you grow cannabis or any other plants that provides fruits or vegetables, your plant needs a certain amount of light, which means that the distance from the top of the plant will vary.
The distance from the top of hemp plant to the bottom of growth lamp is one of the most important factors to control indoor hemp gardens. Keeping the appropriate distance between plants and growth lights is essential for the healthy growth of crops. Fried dough twist is the key to the growth of the plant. Cannabis plants use their energy from growing lamps to maximize production by growing larger buds and healthier stems. In this case, you need to make sure that the plant gets enough light without causing the plant to burn or overheat.
There are different forms of lighting systems, including LED, HID, HPS, CFL and T5. HPS, LED and HID have more lighting output and are the best choice for the most effective buds and the highest yield. Cannabis growers love to use LED grow lights because they have the function of providing specific spectrum for all plants lighting conditions. Compared with traditional lighting systems, LED grow lamp technology can also provide more cannabis production in less time. Other benefits love to LED grow lights as cannabis growers include lower power consumption and reduced forward heat.
Generally speaking, the LED plant grow light can maintain at 24-26 inches in the seedling growth stage (the first 3 weeks), and can maintain 18-22 inches in vegetation stage and flowering stage.
If the grow lamp is strong, hang the grow lamp several inches. If it is not too strong, hang it down several inches. However, the output of different LED brands varies greatly because they use different brands of LEDs, different magnifiers (or no lenses at all), and different power through the LED grow light. Most led grow light system manufacturers provide the recommended suspension height for their lamps.
Since most high-quality HID HPS double headed bulbs cannot be air-cooled, but the light output and heat are very strong, growers keep plants at a distance of at least 36 inches to prevent combustion.
If you want to maximize the output per watt of double ended HID lighting, please increase the air conditioning of indoor marijuana planting room. The distance between light and plants must be adjusted according to the growth stage of indoor cannabis plants. For example, when your plants mature and grow closer to your growth lights, you need to dim the growth lights or adjust the distance from plants. If you do not adjust the distance or dim the growth lights, you will risk burning plants.
The power output of T5 and T8 bulbs varies greatly, so the light intensity and hanging distance above plants may be different. For example, a lamp with two bulbs can output 60 to 100 watts. However, lamps with four or six bulbs can output two to three times in strong light.
Low power T5 and T8 growth lamp installations can be suspended from 6 to 10 inches above plants. A higher power T5/T8 plant growth lamp device can be hung 12 to 14 inches above the plant.
Marijuana plants need different lights in each growth stage, and the hanging distance of plant lights is also different. Always pay attention to their own marijuana plants and adjust them according to different conditions of marijuana. At present, most plant grow lights have dimming function.
