What are the 6 types of hydroponics?
There are six main types of hydroponic systems to choose from:
Wick Systems.
The wick system may not be the most effective way to grow marijuana through hydroponics, but it certainly works and can have a huge impact on those who want to try to grow marijuana using soilless methods. The system does not require pumps to deliver nutrients to the roots. Instead, it is achieved by using the capillary action of a wick or rope.
Deep Water Culture (DWC)
Deep Water Culture (DWC) is the easiest type of hydroponic system that you can build and maintain at home. In this system, the plants grow with their roots submerged directly in nutrient-rich water.
Nutrient Film Technique (NFT).
The Nutrient Film Technique (NFT) is perhaps the most reliable and popular hydroponic method. The fundamentals are very easy to get your head around. The most important feature of NFT hydroponics is that plant roots are in direct contact with flowing nutrient solution
Ebb and Flow (Flood and Drain)
Ebb and flow, also referred to as ‘flood and drain’, is a bit more advanced than a DWC system in that it requires more equipment and relies on a timer to provide the roots with a wet and dry cycle.
Aeroponics.
Aeroponics technology is a hydroponics technology. Spray atomizer is used to sprinkle a very fine and pressurized water droplet to the root. Generally, the reservoir is part of the growth pool, and the root system is suspended above the water surface or nutrient solution.
Drip Systems.
Drip irrigation system is a popular method of irrigating plants, which is used in many large plantations or farms. The principle is quite simple. The nutrient solution is transported to the top of the medium through a pump or gravity system, rather than feeding the root system from below.
