How to choose a grow light for cannabis seeding?

Because seedlings are at the beginning of the plant life cycle, they cannot absorb a lot of light in the early stage. Seedlings don’t need much light. They burn easily. Light intensity is measured in PPFD (sometimes called PAR) and umol / m2 / s.

We all know that seedlings and clones only need about 100 μ PPFD level of mol / m2 / s.It takes 200-400 μmol/ m2 / s for plants to become vegetation. In the late flowering stage, it can process about 600-700 μmol/ m2 / s.

If you plan to use the same grow lamp throughout the all growth cycle, make sure that the PPFD emitted by the grow lamp is at least 600 umol / m2 / s. Because we should not only ensure the growth of seedlings, but also meet the high PPFD required in growth period and flowering period. That’s why when it comes to seedlings or clones, growers generally choose a separate plant grow lamp, while they choose the same plant grow lamp for the growth period and flowering period. For example, Dmxgrow lp960 LED plant grow lamp has high PPFD and high efficiency to meet the PPFD required for the growth period and flowering period of cannabis.

The higher the height of the grow lamp, the lower the PPFD value. A grow lamp can produce 600 μ L / m2 / s at 12 inches, but only 300 μ L / m2 / s at 30 inches.

Just make sure the grow light you choose covers the right area and the right intensity. You need to know how much space your plants will occupy, and then you can start looking for a grow lamp that can emit the required light intensity in the area.
