How Effective of Grow Lights?
LED grow light is a kind of plant grow lamp. It uses LED (light emitting diode) as light source. According to the growth law of plants, as a grow lamp that uses light instead of sunlight, it provides a growth environment for plants. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, blue and purple, the shorter the wavelength of light, the longer the wavelength, the more it can promote plant growth. Pink light is long wave light, which can promote plant growth and achieve light filling effect.
The composition of light is very complex. And artificial lighting. It can completely imitate the influence of natural sunlight on plants. Light can inhibit the growth of plant internodes. This effect will increase with the increase of light intensity and light time. Therefore, under the condition of weak light and too short illumination time, the seedlings are easy to grow between internodes, and the growth time is long. Under strong light, the illumination time is long and the internode is short. In addition, different light quality will also affect the growth of seedling stems. Under normal circumstances, red orange light is the most effective light for photosynthesis, which can accelerate the growth of seedlings, but the internodes are long and the stems are thin; Blue violet light can dwarf the growth of seedlings, while ultraviolet light has the strongest effect on inhibiting the growth and promoting the dwarfing of seedlings.
LED grow lights are really effective. Generally, artificial LED grow lamps are used in combination with different wavelengths to provide an alternative to sunlight when growing under artificial conditions lacking sunlight. When growing indoors, the combination of blue and red light can help to obtain better yield.
400-450 nm blue light is used to grow robust green and healthy plants with lush green leaves.
It is recommended that 620-680nm red light is best used for reproductive purposes, i.e. fruits and flowers.
The correct combination of red and blue light will help to obtain better yield.
In other words, if plants are planted for green crops such as green leaf crops, the combination of more blue light and red light will help to obtain more green yield.
When trying to obtain fruit, the combination of more red light and blue light helps to obtain higher fruit yield.
Here’s a lot more to photosynthesis, but for our conversation about LEDs, this is a perfect summary. While photosynthesis originally evolved as a reaction to sunlight, the development of indoor farming has proven that indoor grow lights can be as, if not more, effective than the sun.
LED grow lights system, consider that the bulbs are 80% efficient. That means they convert 80% of the energy they use into light. With good LED lights, they draw fewer watts (electric energy) while producing brighter light as compared to regular grow bulbs.
